Ora Clinical Psychology ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your personal and health information. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), adhering to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and Health Privacy Principles (HPPs) in our handling of personal information. We primarily collect information directly from you through forms, interviews, and communications as well as information shared during psychology assessment and treatment services. Sometimes we collect personal information from third parties, including public sources, your representatives and the parties with whom we exchange information as described here.

Our services are not directed to persons under 18 and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with Personal Data, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you are the parent or guardian of a child and you believe they have provided us with Personal Data without your consent, then please contact us.

Client information is predominantly stored in Halaxy, which is an Australian-based secure private practice software program commonly used in the healthcare industry and is accessible only to authorized personnel. The information on each file includes personal information such as name, address, contact phone numbers, medical history, and other personal information collected as part of providing the psychological service. 

Ora Clinical Psychology is also required by law to store your records for a minimum of seven (7) years (or until the age of 25 if under 18 years of age) and we also retain personal information for administrative purposes such as for Medicare requirements.

 

Access to and Correction of Personal Information

You have the right to access and correct your personal information held by us. To do so, please contact us at hello@orapsychology.com.au. Where our records are found to be inaccurate, we will promptly rectify any inaccuracies on the basis of the further information you provide.

Duty of Care

If your communication with Ora Clinical Psychology raises concerns about safety, we will make every effort to contact you to ensure your well-being and that of others. If necessary to protect you or others from harm, we may share relevant information with appropriate individuals or services, such as a caregiver, healthcare provider, crisis support service, or law enforcement.

Whenever possible, we will communicate openly with you and inform you if our concerns reach a level where external support must be involved. This may occur when we reasonably believe that withholding the information would place you or someone else at serious risk of harm to life, health, or safety.
